A modern take on a classic story. We were able to explore Jane Austen's world with a more feminst and modern twist.

Workshops

Workshops provided an opportunity to be able to work directly with the cast members to help them step into the world of the show.

From games and dancing, we were able to connect the actors with the show and help them better understand whom they were portraying, and help them do it in a more effective way.

This allows us to maintain the connection between the production team and what the audience could potentially be seeing.

Lobby Displays

Oftentimes we expect the audience to be comfortable and the show should fully engage them, so they don't need to do any work.

However, when audiences show up, this allows them to step into the world a little better. Theatre patrons also have to suspend their disbelief. This starts the minute they walk into the theatre, and oftentimes should start in preparation. This is a way to help the audience prepare for what they're about to see and help them step into the world that has been created.

We tend to think we know best about who matched with who in the world of Pride and Prejudice. This allows the audience to play match maker and take merely the silhouettes of the actors and the way they are described to try and help them find their perfect match.

This being the last production to be put on in this theatre in this beloved building, we invited the audience to put up pictures and write memories that they have of this theatre and this building to reminisce before it was torn down.

Post-Show

After a few of the shows the lead dramaturg, Lillian Bills and I had the opportunity to run post-show discussions with the audience to get their immediate feedback on the production they just saw.

My husband's family came to support the show that I had had the opportunity to work on. From those who had memorized Pride and Prejudice to those who knew nothing about it, they all around enjoyed the new adaptation and experience this production had to offer.
